This was the first pattern that I have ever created. I used this purse for quite some time until I made the Pleated Mesh Purse. It is very easy and fairly quick to work up.

As you can see it has a cross-body strap and isn’t a big bag but does have a good amount of room inside with two pockets that have elastic. This purse has a lot of nice texture to it and can be done with any type of yarn really, I used Red Heart Super Saver in Black and Grey Heather.
I used a 5 mm crochet hook. I had purchased some pre-cut fabric from Amazon and sewn it with my sewing machine. I just recently got my sewing machine however so I used to sew the liner and pockets in by hand.
You can make the strap shorter if you like so that it is more of a shoulder bag than a cross-body bag. I personally like the cross-body because it’s more manageable as well as safer.
In this photo you can see the lining and the pocket with the elastic. I didn’t make the elastic too tight so there is more easy access to your items when you want them.
The fabric pieces are perfect in size for small bags like this one, they are 19.7"x19.7" and all you have to do is cut enough off for the pockets then fold it and sew the sides and then sew the pockets.
Then you would just sew it into your crochet bag!
Originally I didn’t add the button but decided to after using it a bit. Now if you want the button you would make a buttonhole in the first row of the black by chaining 3 in the middle and skipping 3 stitches and then sewing the button onto the inside of the opposite side of the bag.
As I said before you can make this bag smaller or bigger by how big you make the base and how many rows you work into the body.
The PDF format for this pattern can be purchased for $2.50 at Ravelry or Etsy and I thank you in advance for your contribution to my website!

Bag Lining: Choose material that will compliment the color/colors you choose for your bag and measure by placing bag on the material and tracing about one inch from bag edge, flipping it over to trace the other side so that you can use the fold for the bottom part of the lining.
Use any leftover material for the pockets if you are adding pockets. I used a small elastic and sewed it into the top of the pockets. I put one pocket on each side of the lining, then I sewed the sides of the lining.
Put the lining inside the bag and sew the top into the bag all the way around. I just cut straight down where the scissors are and then fold the material and sew the sides.
Fold tops down before sewing into bag. Also sew the pockets onto the lining before sewing into the bag.
I added the button by attaching one that would fit through the hdc on the other side, onto the inside in the middle of the top edge.
Next you will fold the corners in with the strap on the inside like in the next photo and then whip stitch the ends together.
Then fold to where the strap is flat against the side like the next photo. Whip stitch the sides to make the folds lay flat against the bag.
