Crochet Lovey Dolls | Toys

These little lovey toys made perfect gifts for my two nieces that are 4 and one years old! They are pretty quick and easy to work up and you can use scrapes of leftover yarn from other projects.
Click here for the link to the pattern I used from “The Stitching Mommy” for the bunny lovey. The materials I used for this project are as follows:
  • The cream color yarn is Caron Simply Soft in off white and the pink is Red Heart Super Saver (I don’t remember what the actual color is)
  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch marker
*31 Mar 2017 – I made another one but used the pink for the mouth and nose and added a pink border. I really like how the border looks but am not too sure if I like the pink nose and mouth; I think I like the brown better. Let me know what you think! :)

I made another one using a lavender color that I just love!

I was going to make another bunny lovey for my other niece but decided that I wanted to switch it up and a monkey instead. I wanted the monkey to be bigger because I was not going to add arms.

I think it would have come out much better if I had used embroidery thread for the facial features and I should have looked up how to make a smile before attempting, but I still think that this little monkey came out pretty cute.
I used Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn in Coffee and Crafter’s Secret in Magnolia Way along with the other materials listed for the bunny but this time I wrapped the coffee color yarn around some small circle stitch markers that had come with the kit to learn to crochet.
All you do is wrap the yarn around the stitch marker, then using your tapestry needle attach it to the head where you want the eyes to sit.

Instructions for monkey face and muzzle: (Make two, one for the face and one for the muzzle)
Repeat rows 1 through 6 for the monkey head, fasten off leaving a long tail and attach the face to the head then attach the muzzle, trying to shape it to look a little oval.
Now you would add the facial features. Below are some links to some very helpful video tutorials.

Click here for a video tutorial on adding the eyes (This is how I did the eyes for the bunny but not the monkey)
This is the video tutorial that I watched for ideas on how to embroider the eyebrows and nose
Instructions for monkey outer ears (make 2):

I would love it if you would post photos of your finished creations and let me know how your projects go. If you have any advice for me, I would really appreciate that as well. Thank you for stopping by my blog!
